Whether you’re planning a camping, backpacking or car camping adventure, it’s important you pack the right gear. We've put together a list to save you time and also included a few pro tips.
Camping packing list:
- Tent: The most essential item. Don't forget to bring a tent large enough to accommodate you and anyone else you'll be camping with. Or bring 2 tents!
- Sleeping bag: You’ll need something to sleep in. Choose a sleeping bag rated for the weather and temperature you'll be camping in.
- Sleeping pad: A sleeping pad will add an extra layer of comfort and insulation between you and the ground.
- Camp stove: Whether you opt for a propane stove or a backpacking stove, don't forget to bring a way to cook your meals. Don’t forget to pack extra propane tanks.
- Camping pots, pans and utensils: Don't forget to bring a way to cook and eat your meals. We love the space saving options.
- Cooler: Bring a cooler to keep your perishable food items fresh, especially if you're camping in hot weather.
- Water bottles: Make sure you stay hydrated by bringing enough water bottles or a hydration system.
- Water filter: If you're camping in an area where the water isn't safe to drink, a water filter can come in handy.
- Flashlight or headlamp: Don't forget a light source for those late night trips to the bathroom. Pro tip: bring both a headlamp and handheld flashlight.
- First aid kit: Pack a basic first aid kit in case of any minor injuries.
- Multi-tool or pocket knife: A multi-tool or knife can come in handy for a variety of tasks around camp.
- Maps and a compass: It's always a good idea to bring a map and compass, especially if you're camping in an unfamiliar area or you're unsure you will have cell coverage.
- Sunscreen: Protect your skin from the sun's harmful UV rays with a high SPF sunscreen.
- Insect repellent: Don't let bugs ruin your camping trip. Bring insect repellent to keep them at bay.
- Camp chairs: Bring a few camp chairs so you have a comfortable place to sit around the campsite.
